The next New Moon occurs at 23°9′ Taurus on May 13th, 2010 at 9:04 pm EST.
As the second sign in the zodiac, and ruled by Venus, Taurus is where we find ourselves concerned with self-gratification, with Self-Love. Taurus is the place where we take great pleasure in thrusting our hands into the moist soils of our earthy existence to sow seeds that will bring much pleasure to our 5 basic senses. Here, we find ourselves longing for experiences of a more hedonistic nature.
Taurus evokes images of the Garden of Eden, for it is here that we are renewed within the simplicity of earthly delights and express a primitive innocence in undertaking that which we find pleasing, without obsessive regard to the ‘rightness or wrongness’ of our desires. Here, that which is nurturing to the senses and to the physical self, just IS.
Later as we develop our Venus attributes in the sign of Libra, we come to be concerned with a further developed and balanced expression of Venus and we apply the “WE” principle, seeking to offer unto an other our ‘fruits of self’ while desiring an other to in turn offer unto us their ‘fruits of self’.
Many find great discomfort in giving recognition to their hedonistic elements and deny themselves the right to self-gratification/love. Yet our path of evolution through the Zodiac has made no error in taking us into the realms of Venus in Taurus before Libra. When one wishes to enter into relationship through the portal of Libra, one must first have something to offer to another, and that is where our experience of Taurus begins our quest to achieve self-fulfillment that allows us to enter into unions that have the best opportunity for long-term survival due to our entering said unions with minimal likelihood of forming a co-dependency due to a sense of lack within one’s self.

Taurus, as the natural second house is the home to self-assets. Here we determine what it is that we need to possess in solid external form to fulfill the hedonist within. Venus is concerned with likes, dislikes and with finance. Our external conditions are a mirror to our internal conditions. If one finds themselves lacking in material attributes a closer look needs to be taken into one’s perspective and previous conditioning concerning self-gratification/love.
After thousands of years of patriarchal and ‘original sin’ patterning within the mass of humanity it is highly unlikely that there is a single person walking this planet today that could not find benefit in assessing their attitudes in relation to self-gratification. There has been such a great emphasis on give that many have lost sight that one must also receive and that the two polarities cannot operate without eventual severe consequence in such an unbalanced state. This has come to manifest as the unproductive state of greed in some, while others have stepped into the the polarity of self-sacrifice, an equally unproductive state, in an attempt to hold the balance.
While we cannot force others to comprehend that which they are not ready for, we can as individuals strive to be the personification of that which we feel is the Higher Path and understand that by doing our part and aligning ourselves to the natural flow of the Cosmos and the All-That-IS, we effect the development of the Whole.
On this Taurus New Moon I encourage allowing yourself to set intentions that nourish YOU! Call forth into your experience that which sustains you, that which fulfills you and that which brings forth into the material existence that which you truly ARE: a Being that is so thoroughly enriched by the Garden Within that you bring forth a Pure Joy to all of your unions with others, hence Being an uplifting energy to all that wish to be receiving just by being YOU. 🙂
Also, consider allowing yourself to express all of your inner-loveliness externally through your material possessions as an extension of whom you truly are and free of any guilt for it is all just energy really and just as you share the abundance of your inner-self freely so too shall you share your external abundance.

Now! Moving on to the specifics of this New Moon:
As Venus has already traversed Taurus, and with the Mercury retrograde taking place here also, we have had the time to identify and sift through our personal desires related to self-gratification. Any issues with said desires likely came to light around the time of the Scorpio Full Moon and hopefully we have worked out the kinks in our “programs”.
This lunation finds the Sun/Moon in favorable aspect to Jupiter in Pisces and Saturn in Virgo while friction is applying from a Leo Mars, Aquarius Neptune and Pisces Chiron. Venus is mildly supportive with a semi-sextile, a bit of reminder energy if you will, just enough to keep us cognizant of our need to focus on our Venus-Taurus initiatives.
The trine formed to Saturn offers us the blessings of real manifestation of that which we choose to now embrace, offered as reward for our applying ourselves to our Saturn in Virgo lessons these past years, provided we accept Jupiter’s assistance offered through sextile and allow ourselves to once again believe (jupiter) that our dreams (pisces) can be a reality!
Friction to this lunation from Neptune in Aquarius and Chiron in Pisces urges us to apply that which we learned during the Neptune/Chiron conjunction. Now that Chiron has entered Pisces this adds a new dimension to the knowledge we acquired while this Pair was in Aquarius. While we have had the veils of the wounds of the Collective parted many have come to a first understanding, while others have more deeply affirmed, that to heal the collective we must first heal thyself. Chiron’s entrance of Pisces has deepened our feelings and urges on this premise and many more are now accelerating their self-healing processes by the letting go and surrendering of all that is not descriptive nor reflective of whom they are. The square to this lunation from Neptune and Chiron keeps us focused on these concepts as we set our intentions during this New Moon.
While Mars in Leo squaring the New Moon adds to the desire to take actions that will bring self-fulfillment we are also encouraged to consider our motives for self-fulfillment. That which we intend now and later enact should not be intended and developed as a ‘tool’ to garner power in an undesirable manner nor merely to propel us into area’s of collective favor solely to fulfill a need for power in and of itself. Our new undertakings should suit the sole purpose of fulfilling and nurturing one’s self while becoming a better authority/example of thyself. At some other point this will equate to the ability to be a better leader/example unto others.
Many blessings! Kachina Houska
