Into the Mystic

The New Moon @ 17°25′  Leo occurs on August 9th, 2010 at 11:09 pm EST and on August 10th at 3:09 am UT.

Leo as the fifth sign of the zodiac is the space of all things personally pleasurable. By the time we enter Leo we have brought forth a new individual form(aries), added the stability necessary to sustain this form in the physical world(taurus), explored our capacity for communication and learning(gemini) and found security within our home/tribe/family(cancer).

After attending our most basic survival needs we come to Leo with the desire to enrich our existence by adding experiences that satisfy our needs for self-demonstration and pure pleasure. Here we strive through creative forms to shine as an individual in some manner.

Leo is a heart-centered energy and is therefore related to our children(literal and figurative), our romantic liaisons and all things that open our hearts and bring us great satisfaction; these are the situations and people that ignite our essence and fuel our desires to be the most honorable and loving that we can possibly be.

A well-functioning Leo energy is very much that of the child seeking pleasure simply for the sake of and with an innocence that is devoid of any ill-intent towards others. It is a carefree space that does not entertain guilt nor shame and is proud to display it’s qualities for all the world to see. Dysfunctions of Leo are often expressed as jealousy or an inflated ego if the innocence of this sign has been compromised due to less desirable behaviors employed in manipulative manners that seek to obtain control over that which is not ours to be controlling of.

With this New Moon Lunation we are being invited to open our hearts and seek to magnetize to our experience the people and situations that bring us a pure pleasure that is not only self-gratifying yet also enhances our individually unique radiance allowing for us to be seen as the expression of the star qualities we truly are!

The Sun is the ruler of this lunation, as it is in residence in it’s own sign of rulership, and while the Lights are forming no major aspects there is a tight semisquare to Venus present. Venus, the ruler of Libra, is the the dispositor of all of the planets currently involved in the Cardinal T-square (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto) and also to Neptune. The Luminaries also form a bi-quintile with the North Node in Capricorn and a semi-sextile with Mercury in mid-Virgo(one of the two signs Mercury rules).

These past months have brought about many changes in our lives, both internal and external, courtesy of the Saturn-Uranus opposition cycle, the Saturn square Pluto cycle, the Uranus-Jupiter-Aries ingress and the ongoing Cardinal T-squares. Undoubtedly the changes we have experienced have also had an influence on redefining where, how and with whom we may wish to sate our thirst for pleasure. Our “tastes” have changed and much that we have found sweet previously we may no longer find as delightful as before and we may now desire the sampling of flavors we have yet to have savored.

The semisquare from the Luminaries to Venus is catalyzing us to find a manner to honor our newly updated selves, again courtesy of the major outer planet transits of recent past, with bringing forth new heart expressions from within this powerful New Moon that better suit whom we are today; and with the biquintile to the North Node whom we are evolving towards becoming in the near future.

A closer look at this Luminaries-Venus semisquare shows friction occurring for Leo is concerned with self-pleasure and Libra is concerned with group harmony. A need to find a middle road is apparent where one can not only honor their responsibility to others yet also allow one’s self to enjoy self-centered pleasures.  As with all else compromise may be needed but one should not throw themselves under the bus per se by choosing to align to the needs of one of these signs over the other.

Mercury, powerful in it’s own right at this time, is in a separating trine to the North Node and shows we have been integrating information that is important to future events that will begin to take physical form in September when the Sun once again catches up to Mercury and moves through the Libra zone of the T-square.

This is truly a beautiful lunation with many beneficial qualities to be enjoyed and a welcome blessing after many months of our making harder adjustments in so many area’s.
