Though the actual retrograde motion phase of Venus lasts approximately 6 weeks the entire span of the retrograde cycle is significantly longer when we account for the pre and post shadow phase also. Venus entered the shadow of pre-retrograde in early September when she crossed 27° Libra. Venus will not exit the retrograde shadow until December 21st when she once again crosses 14° Scorpio in direct motion. As of December 22nd this current Venus Retrograde phase will be complete.

During Venus retrogrades we find ourselves reviewing our relationship with our personal Venusian energies. Venus as the ruler of Taurus and Libra is concerned with our perceptions of Self-Worth, of Beauty and of Equality in Relationships. Venus defines what we place Value upon(both material and ethical) and is representative of our capacity to give and receive Love. Our personal Venus energy represents how we go about incorporating and infusing these principles into our daily existence.Venus retrograde periods are not a time that we are overly concerned with outward appearances and are more conducive to meditating upon our relationship to Venus and evaluating how our personal Venus signature is preforming.
We are advised to exercise caution during Venus Retrogrades when making decisions or taking actions that are related to Venus. This caution is due to our not necessarily being in-sync with the full visual of Venus related situations courtesy of our intensified inner focus. Situations such as the beginning or ending of relationships, the initiating of any fashion and beauty related changes, the undergoing of cosmetic surgeries and the purchasing of any items that may simply be a chosen out of aesthetic considerations are all examples of Venus influenced affairs that extra consideration should be applied to.
The opinions of Astrologers vary as to what you should and shouldn’t do during retrograde periods. I feel that you if you are well informed as to the nature of retrograde phases, make your choices in awareness of the possible ramifications that can occur via retrograde energies and just exercise some good old-fashioned self-restraint and common sense when appropriate than you needn’t put a stop to your normal routines.
Saving receipts for purchases made during the retrograde period is always a good idea so that returns can easily be made should Venus turn direct and you feel you exercised a bad choice when you purchased that “absolutely had to have it then but it now makes me ill just looking at it” item. 😉

Scorpio Phase of Retrograde 10/8-11/8
With the first segment of this retrograde occurring in Scorpio the normal Venus urges will be intensified significantly as Scorpio tends to induce an all or nothing influence yet it is entirely up to each individual as to what urges they do and do not act upon and how they handle any actions they preform.
When Scorpio functions in it’s lower expression, as the self-stinging Scorpion, actions are based solely upon fulfilling one’s own desires without regard to the welfare or effects upon any other. When expressing in it’s higher expression, as the Phoenix-Eagle, actions are based upon the willingness to be a trans-formative agent within the environment in which it finds itself in a manner that offers freedom and enlightenment to all things within said environment. Though the path of the Eagle is not the easiest to strive upon, if chosen in earnest, is one that is worthy of sacrifice for the treasures which are gained are immeasurable by material world standards.
Venus retrograding within Scorpio will place the focus upon how Venus functions in relation to Scorpio/8th house theme’s of sex, transformation, legacies, shared resources/energy, indebtedness and intimacy. Unresolved issues related to any of these factors may arise during the weeks that Venus is retrograde here. As Scorpio also rules elimination any experiences, past or present, related to Scorpio/8th house themes may arise for clearing. Dependent upon the individual and their personal situations this may not be an easy time for often what we have “secreted away” within our Scorpio/8th house we not only shrouded from the public but also from ourselves. Regeneration requires courage and is necessary at various points in our lives and with a lot of self-love and the desire to be free of past limitations one can and will regain their self-empowerment via Scorpio/8th house initiations.
When the Moon is conjunct, square or in opposition to VenusRx in Scorpio we can expect these themes to have a greater emotional impact.

Libra Phase of Retrograde: 11/8-11/18
When Venus returns to it’s home sign Libra the tones shift to a more amicable tone. During this phase of the retrograde Venus is strongly supported by Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron. The ten day period that Venus remains retrograde in Libra will likely be focused on another reevaluation of one’s current relationships and our expectations of relationships in general, in consideration to the new discoveries made and/or internal reworking we have undergone, during the Scorpio phase.
With Saturn also in residence within Libra we are being urged to define our relationship ideals and this dip back into Libra will be an important time for Venus. When Venus turns direct @ 27° Libra on November 18th we will begin to integrate the whole of our retrograde experience and this will be a time that decisions are made and acted upon concerning our relations. This may bring about more relationship completions yet also will be likely to strengthen and deepen many existing relationships as well.

During Venus retrogrades I find it important to keep in mind that each and every person is evaluating their own personal “stuff” rather if they are aware of it or not. This is not a time to make assumptions concerning personal relationship matters for the tendency to self-absorption at this time can lead to unnecessary misunderstandings between two parties. If you enter a Venus retrograde realizing that you and others may need space to work through personal issues then you won’t feel slighted or unloved when someone doesn’t respond to you in the manner you are accustomed to. Sometimes things arise that must be addressed ASAP but whenever possible it is generally better advised to wait to make decisions on the really important matters until after the retrograde has completed.

Thanks Kachina. I’m tentatively quite liking this, even as the Sun/4th square Pluto underworld mayhem continues (unexpectedly had to have our entire hot water system replaced this week!) Venus and Mars are currently sitting on the cusp of my 12th and conjuncting Saturn tr Merc/Pisc (3rd). I have felt myself to be more conciously steering my way through the pitfalls and passions that beset my way! for instance found a Plumbing Angel – a rare and wonderful being – pretty much by staying calm and ‘in the moment’.
My husband has Venus and Mars forming a T square to his Sun and Moon from 1st and 2nd. As he doesn’t really know much astrology, I did alert him to it but just advised caution re decisions about money and relationships for awhile. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. He does have heavy ongoing family economic/emotional problems and has recently begun to learn to meditate so all sorts of things are coming up for him.
First day of our beaches being open for dogs today now the holiday season is over so a lovely visit to our favourite local beach was a real joy!

Pluto operating on the 4th can definitely do that. With mine on my IC natal I have earthquakes just in my homes…literally. I have had explosions and mysterious green fogs of ‘unknown’ origins that have brought out rescue teams…a pipe bomb in my driveway..a sinkhole open in one of my basements and huge cracks appear in support beams and walls in the blink of an eye. My homes “quake” quite often..booms and earth movement at least once monthly always. Thanks to Jupiter in the 4th there is never anyone injured.
Right now I have massive water/plumbing issues too…like you. That one’s due to my 12th(neptune) Moon. I think I need to cry…and just can’t. So as long as the tears don’t come the house continues to weep and grieve for me. Working on it though…

When choosing to ‘sleep with the enemy’ you need to keep one eye open, right? I suppose in your case if she returns you need to decide if the boons are worth always being “not quite rested and relaxed” for sleeping with one eye open is taxing over time. 😉

I really like your approach. But I am not looking forward to a return wave of 8th house energies as experienced over the past 6 months …. (natal venus scorpio) yet I intend to clear them, once and for all once I can muster the strength. Saturn in Libra provides a certain resiliance as ‘slowly but surely’ prevails through emotional challenges and ‘to thine own self be true’ resounds load and clear as the only course of any decision or action. With Pluto squaring 4 personal planets, these directives have met, are being met and will continue to be met with opposition. Saturn in Libra provides some stability by anchoring the knowledge that, this too shall pass if we act wisely.

When you say, “find peace with my self” it gives the impression that you feel you did something wrong. If that is how you feel..then the peace will come after you work through any sense of wrong doing on your part, real or imaginary.
Finding peace does not necessarily mean we are automatically released from sadness or heartache but it does mean we find a way to accept what has occurred and that we are able to move on with our lives and to seek new experiences that bring us fulfillment.

FINALLY….
I’ve searched the web and you are the only one who say’s a past love can come back and it might not be a bad thing.
My live in boyfriend said he thought he was spending the rest of his life with me and we were trying to make a baby…we were having some issues but one day after returning from a mind-opening “festival” realized he valued that feeling of “being in love”, broke up then turned around a week later and started a relationship with a neighbor girl (27) and is going on a binge..love and other. Crazy impulsive acts. She’s a Cancer and I’ve read this time is prime for fertility. I’m trusting I’ll get the last laugh on this one and I’m working hard on myself but fear my intuition regarding her getting pregnant are correct.
Do I blame the Retrograde or just run from a Virgo with moon in Aries, Mars in Scorpio, Neptune in Scorpio, Uranus in 7th house? We had Mars trine Jupiter (kids?), Venus sq. Mars, Venus conj. Ascendant, Moon conj. saturn.Venus sq. Mars.
My intuition is telling me he is hashing up years of past behaviors to witness them. I trust that he loves me deeply and I’m being a dork thinking this is some karmic lesson he needed to learn for a final time.

I don’t think you are nuts at all..but, I do think you need to consider your situation more simply.
Take out of the equation what has occurred between you and this man before now such as his sharing that he intended to stay with you for life because bottom line is he exercised another choice and left the relationship. For now, that just is what it is.
Also, I don’t feel the other woman is factor for it is totally up to him to choose where he wants to be..she can no more strong arm him to her than you can or anyone else for that matter.
Our synastry with another can give us volumes of insight into the workings of our relationships but does not bind us to anything and any possibilities shown within synastry/composite charts can only solidify through free will actions.
The current reality is, he chose to move one..do you really want to base all of your decisions now on the possibility of his coming back and deny yourself possible goodness shared with others or would you rather move on too and enjoy your life for there is no reason should he ‘come back around’ that you cannot take him back if you still wish to? I’d opt for the latter…

Hello …, Venus Rx was moving through my 12th. All of the Rx span. It is the first venus Rx since I know about astrology. Uranus is there at 8.43 scorpio. Venus during this period hit the tight natal T-square configuration(uranusRx, saturn, mercury, with saturn apex) three times, plus an inconjunct to natal sun at 4.18 gemini and natal jupiter at 11.23 gemini as well, my 12th. Cusp at 26.13 libra ruled by venus. This period was not a good one for me really. My ex girl freind didn’t contact, i am in dept, and i feel lonely. But i admit… I have noticed some human greediness behaviors concerning little day to day money transactions.

Hi, I am very green to the protocols of Venus retrograding. I’ve read somewhere that relationships formed at this time is doomed. I am a Virgo (9/22/1982) who is getting to know a man (7/4/1987) I met at a bookstore I work at on 11/10/10 and I was wondering if I should just not bother with the idea of dating him ever. Or if there is a still a sliver of hope that it could still potentially work out if I wait until after 11/18 when Venus goes direct?

No harm in waiting a few days. But there is harm in becoming dependent upon outside apparatus to over-ride our native intelligence, instincts. Some would say that a ‘spark’ formed during Venusrx (especially with Saturn now in Libra) with a potential significant other, could be the start of an enduring, stable relationship which is in some form connected to the past (possibly past life). When we know ourselves we inform ourselves about who is compatable and who is not.
