Some seem to be born with an understanding of what boundaries are and utilize them with ease throughout their lives.
Others, myself included, have had to work quite diligently to understand the meaning of boundaries and to utilize them in a manner that is non-projective.
Years past I attended a Spiritual School of Healing for a time.
It was the philosophy of the founders of this school that to become an effective conduit for healing energies one must first heal thyself.
When I entered this school one of the issues that was constantly stressed to me during our self-work sessions was BOUNDARIES.
Quite honestly back then I didn’t have any.
The word meant nothing to me whatsoever no matter how many times it was defined to me.
Yet others could see, even if I could not, that I was in a desperate need of boundaries and I am thankful for their daily enforcement of the necessity of developing boundaries for myself.
Many wise souls planted seeds with me and while those seeds did not sprout until after my attendance period at this school they did eventually come fully to flower and I am thankful for those that cared enough about me to badger me ceaselessly concerning the need for developing healthy boundaries.
Setting boundaries really is about you and not about any other.
I do not perceive boundaries as “walls or shields” as I believe is quite a common perception.
If you truly have strong boundaries and maintain them there is never a need to deflect or prevent an energy of any nature from entering your space nor is there a need to concern yourself with how another is utilizing their personal energy.
Boundaries are a clean and concise definition of your personal space.
They allow you to set within your energy patterns what comes in and what goes out and how you wish to utilize and/or bypass any energy incoming regardless of if you should label it as negative or positive in quality or high or low in frequency.
It simply does not matter for you are setting the characteristics of the energy incoming through the implementation of boundaries and therefore determine the qualities of any energy within your space.
Keep your space tidy and do not trespass the personal space of an other and you shall master boundaries amazingly fast!
The following is an article I wrote a while ago that I feel is relevant to developing and maintaining boundaries and is an issue that tends to be overlooked when doing depth work in the area of boundary development.
If you have a lot of challenging aspects in your chart concerning relationships with others or if you are loaded up on Pisces, 12th house, or Neptune aspects then you also should find this article of benefit. Service-oriented Virgo, this also could serve you.

Seeing the Pure Potential of Another yet Accepting Whom they are Today: A Tool for Individual and Collective Relationships
Service-oriented souls often share a common obstacle in their daily walk and one that is quite commonly overlooked.
Yet this obstacle is a real whammy until recognized for it often is a factor in our daily life and in our most intimate relationships.
Many whom tend to have personal boundary issues and suffer the ramifications of this through various forms of abuse often have this as a core issue.
On a larger scale, the collective often faces difficulties when lending their power to leaders and ideologies when their choice to back said leader or ideology was based solely upon the possibility for the potential they see in this other to be realized and made manifest.
Likewise, Service-oriented Souls have a tendency to perceive other Souls based solely upon on their Pure Potential yet this is only half of the coin.
Many are unaware of this as it has been their natural way of being since birth and have yet to make this possible connection as to why they continue to suffer difficulties and disappointments in their interactions with others and in their most intimate relationships and may also find themselves repeatedly disappointed with the ‘failures’ of those in elected positions that they have lent their support to.
Seeing the Pure Potential (which we often term the God Spark) in another, I attribute directly as to being the dynamic that allows one to assist others on their path to self-empowerment, healing and self-realization etc, regardless if a service-oriented person is completely conscious of embodying this dynamic.
With this dynamic service-to-others types are afforded the ability to freely Love, to be compassionate and to be open and willing to assist all Souls seeking assistance without bias.
Yet the perceiving of an others pure potential has need of being balanced by it’s helpmate: the simple perceiving and allowance for whom another is Now and not just whom they may become.
Seldom is it wise to base one’s relationship with another based solely upon the others Pure Potential.
For most of us that easily perceive the Pure Potential within others we cannot with accuracy know when the other person will CHOOSE to manifest said potential within their self upon this plane.
If in past experience you have had, or currently are within, relationships based upon this unbalanced state of perception in which you have only acknowledged the other person’s possible potential and not allowed for their current reality state then you may be stuck in a loop with the others that leaves you constantly disillusioned and disappointed.
This is simply because when viewing the pure potential of the other person you attached expectations to them (of whom you felt they should be and how they should ‘act’ in some manner) based upon a possibility of whom they may become and yet have not as of today manifested.
This is not serving to either party.
The other person may not able or willing to BE that which you wish them to be or to achieve the Potential you see they may become at this time.
And you are quite likely missing the opportunity of participating in healthy and fulfilling relationships by closing the door to other opportunities presenting due to the hopes that this other that you are currently focused upon is going to become whom you want them to be.
This I feel is the core issue in many toxic relationships.
When we shift our view from solely the pure potential of another and allow ourselves to also see them as they are NOW we utilize a valuable tool for our own welfare and that of others.
If this article rings any bells for you try my approach on for size for I believe you will notice immediate improvement within your personal life and relationships.
You will also develop skills allowing for clearer perceptions in your personal relationships and your relationship to the larger collective which will save you much disappointment in the future.
I choose to Honor and Bless the Pure Potential within All yet I also practice discernment within all of my relationships, be they personal or on a collective scale. I strive to encourage others to reach for their Highest Potential while accepting them for whom they are today and hence make all of my relational decisions by considering both sides of the coin.

Hi Kachina!
This article is enlightening! My hand is raised and waving in the breeze….You are describing ME! (And many others, for sure.) My sun is in Aquarius, so I truly love all humanity, plus my chart annoyingly whispers in my ear (and sometimes shouts) that I have Venus opposite Neptune and they are transposed (is that the word?) Also have Pluto in the 7th. Disappointments are plentiful. It’s gotten so that I no longer trust my judgements pertaining to relationships with men. The phrase that lately repeats in my head is “Don’t cast your pearls before swine.” The very first thing that I notice in EVERYONE is their awesome potential and I have this exasperating urge to announce it to them and encourage them to bring it out! Man….. It gets me into trouble. The boundary thing, as well applies to me. Working diligently on this.
Thank you for writing about this, Kachina.
Love,
Jan

“Don’t cast your pearls before swine”..a lot of wisdom there and in many, many applications. That is one that re-presents itself to me with a new meaning quite often..and always takes me to a new perspective in some manner.
Pluto is transiting my 7th(and 5th Solar) and so far, so good. Lot’s of power plays but honestly I don’t think those enacting them are even remotely aware of what they are doing so I just sidestep and weave a lot.
Love to You! xx

wow. i needed this, thank you. venus-chiron-sun conjunction in cancer in the 12th house… i’m everyone’s mother, lover, saint, sinner… i breathe light into dark places and am usually left in the dark myself, wondering why i give so much but end up with so little. reading this every so often will get me on track when i get lost in doing energy-work for needy souls instead of relating to people on the mundane level in the civilized world, haha.
really, thank you.

Hi Tasha~
My experience as an energy worker has taught me to see to my needs first..then others. Otherwise I hit a wall and then not only can I not give I also have usually ended up being overly dependent on others until I picked myself back up again. A nasty see-saw to be on. Sounds as if you are coming to the same conclusion. 🙂
Blessings! Kachina
